What a night! We woke up to a thunderstorm at 3am which soon turned into the most extraordinary hail storm I've ever seen! The hail balls were the size of tennis balls, no joking!! We've had a lot of damage to the house, the plastic all around the edge of our house looks like it's been eaten by giant caterpillars! Our roof has got some damage and our garden looks like a mad man went round with a chain saw, all my lovely plants and flowers :( My cold frame is completely smashed and any pots I had out are all broken. I have never heard noise like it, pretty frightening really. It seems like we were right in the centre of the storm, the next door village didn't have any at all! Most important is that we are ok and my cats are sleeping off a noisy night!

I started a new bear yesterday in the most amazing long pile faux fur, this bear is going to be quite a wispy sweet character....

Hail storms can be pretty frightening! We went through one 15 years ago, about six months after we moved in to our house. The storm only lasted a few minutes, but it ripped apart our greenhouse, and we had to re-side the west and south sides of the house.
I'm glad everyone is okay. The pictures of the hail balls are amazing!
So sorry to hear this! It must have been so scary, and all that damage! Oh dear! Glad nobody was hurt.
My goodness that was a nasty storm! I hope you are able to revive your plants soon and make the necessary repairs.
I am looking forward to seeing your new bear:)
Blessings,
Kim
What a bad hail storm!!! I'm so glad everyone is ok......I have never seen a hail storm with that large hail before in my life...hugs, Jennifer
Argh!
This reminds me about what missed us the 7th of may. The hail storm missed our home from only a few hundred meters but made a lot of damages to our friends' house and greenhouse on top of the hill at the exit of the village. You can see photos on my blog. The hailstones were pretty big too : the size of ping pong balls. In the news we heard about another big hail storm that happened yesterday, mainly in the north of France, probably that same one that visited your home!!! How scary!!!!!
I am glad you are safe as well as your other half and cats.
Good luck with the cleaning...
Lots of hugs,
Sophie.
Tennis balls? OH MY GOODNESS! Wow. Hail is plenty loud when it is the size of little candies ... but tennis balls must have been amazing and frightening, too!
What a thing to witness.
Good luck with the clean up. Hope there wasn't too much damage, financially speaking.
I have a little "friend" prize for you over at my blog. Swing by for it when you get the chance. :)
thanks everyone, we have got lots more damage than we first thought - I think about half our roof tiles are cracked - amazing hail can do this - but they were huge! back to clearing up.... Catherine x
Oh my goodness!!!!
And to think...I always secretly wished to be under a hail storm to find out what it would be like...not anymore!!!!
Oh my goodness me!!! It sounds terrifying! Wow, so much mess :(
WOW! You really got pelted, didn't you? I hope your car was protected somewhere. That can do some expensive damage there, too!
OUCH !
Wow! That must have been scary!
