In the footsteps of Miss Potter - the movie

It's been a busy week, trying to paint our house window frames in between rain showers, sewing a new bear and lots of sketching. Back to my trip in the world of Beatrix Potter..... After visiting Hill Top we went on to the Beatrix Potter Gallery in nearby village, Hawkshead. A wonderous amount of original sketches and watercolours are displayed within the old solicitors offices of her husband. A beautiful 17th Century building, with wonky wooden floors and low ceilings (not good for bumping your head if you're tall like my fiance!).

Then we went in search of Yew Tree Farm , that was one of the farms that Beatrix had owned, and was used as Hill Top in the Miss Potter movie. If you click on the red link above you can see why the actual Hill Top was not able to be used in the Movie. We had a lovely cup of tea in their garden, with little lambs sleeping under the benches! A truly beautiful house, wouldn't you just love to live here, I know I would!

I have just changed my banners here on my blog and on my website, hope you like them. Many more photos coming up soon. Wishing you all a happy weekend. Hugs, Catherine x

Thanks for sharing your photos! I would SO love to visit that area. It's perfect for this rainy day. Maybe I will put Miss Potter on later! My hubby and I both love to watch the movie over and over again! Love your new banner. I would love to have a cute little dog like that!

I just loved reading about Beatrix Potter. It is my favourite movie and watch it over and over. I adored her stories when I was a child. And still enjoy them.
I had no idea that 'Hilltop' wasnt actually 'Hilltop'. You live and learn aye? Then which house is the 'real' Hilltop?

Hi Catherine,
I loved the photo's, especially the one with the lambs under the table, while you were having your tea. I would probably be more under the table than above :-).

Looking forward to the next step of your trip !

Great new banner,

This is one of my favorite movies and you are so lucky to be able to see everything! It doesn't surprise me that you love it too. Beatrix Potter is one of the illustrators and writers who I couldn't imagine my childhood without. I even used her inspiration for my daughter's nursery. I'm thinking I need to just move there! I love your new banner too!

glad you enjoyed your visit to our lovely part of the world- we live across the lake from Hill Top and you have inspired me to go and visit there when I am feeling better. When you live in a place you don't always make the most of it! Mind you- I wouldn't go today. It's tipping it down!!

I have yet to see the film Miss Potter. I didn't know about the use of the farm. It's great information and if we get to visit again, a visit here will have more meaning. It must have been a lovely experience to have your cup of tea amongst the lambs. x

Wonderful pictures! I stumbled upon your blog when I was searching for Yew Tree Farm. I have some photos from there (as well as Hill Top) on my blog- but all mine were taken on a rainy, dreary day! Great blog!!

OH mY goodness! I love these pictures. This is what I would want to see if I came to England. This is beautiful! I love all the BP stories. And really enjoyed the Mis Potter movie too. I read her biography a few years ago. What an amazing woman she was. So ahead of her time. If I could go back in time I would want to meet her.
