Remembrance

On this Remembrance Sunday my thoughts turn to my Grandfather, Paddy Coote, who sadly lost his life in WWII whilst on mission with the RAF in Greece. My Mum and Aunt had to grow up without their Dad and my Granny without her dearest Husband. They were all incredibly strong women with the kindest of hearts. I miss them all each and every day, today my thoughts and love go out to them and all the families that are sadly still in this current day losing their loved ones in battle.Click here for my post about my Grandfather from last year with a very special photo from his wedding day. My Grandfather loved poetry so this is for you Paddy x

There's a very special garden
Where the trees of memory grow
Nurtured by the kindness
And concern that good friends show.
The roots are cherished memories
Of good times in the past
The branches tender promises
That souls endure and last.
It's a place of peace and beauty
Where bright new hopes can start
It's memory's lovely garden
That soothes the hurting heart.

Thank for you sharing with my Remembrance. Come back soon for some Christmas delights. Catherine x

What a dear lovely poem you wrote in memory of your grandfather! I was blessed to have all of my grandparents growing up. My father passed away before my children could ever know him. He lives on in the memories I have shared of him with them through pictures and stories.

Hi, Catherine... Such a lovely tribute to your Grandfather...thank you for sharing this with us. Thinking of you today as you remember him... :o) I'm slow to stop by after a very busy weekend. So very glad there's been such a wonderful response to sales of your sweetest bookmarks, cards and calendar--they are sooo cute! Super work, my friend! :o) ((HUGS))

Love your blog banner! SO cute!

And I love the photo of your grandpa and grandma on their wedding day. They look like Hollywood movie stars they look so pretty and so happy. Love it.

That is a very lovely poem. Did you write it?

Good to have our memories, isn't it?

I just love the pictures of Scotland!

And those book marks are ADORABLE. And the little sentences that go with some of them are a perfect example of the "edge" you give to your artwork with that little touch of whimsy and heart ... like when bear just couldn't sleep without a bedtime story from owl.

NOW I NEED a story from owl!!!

Wall papering is challenging ... but I bet it will look nice when it's done.

hugs!!!!

What a beautiful poem, Catherine. I lost my dear Mother two years ago and my daughter was never able to know her. My heart still aches for my Mama; i miss her beyond words. Time has not made that better for me but i was blessed to have her as my Mother for 40 years and i have many memories to cherish.

Thank you for sharing your poem...it is a beauty.
